ABOUT Sub Arena

Jacqueline Lumsden, Owner and Operator

Jacqueline Lumsden has been in business for over 25 years.  Jacqueline and the whole Sub Arena Sandwich Shop crew makes you feel right at home.  Jacqueline is a native to Fort Madison, Iowa.  Jacqueline and her sister, purchased Subs & Suds on Avenue G and turned it into Sub Areana in 1983.  Years later, Jacqueline opened a second shop, Sub Arena West, which she operated for five years before consolidating the two shops into one larger, centralized location on 2805 Avenue L, Fort Madison ,IA 52627.   When Jacqueline purchased the property it was a video store.  Before that it was a grocery store.  Jacqueline may have changed locations three times, but one thing that hasn't changed in 25 years is the menu.  While even drivethru chain restaruants are known to add a special promotional sandwich every month or so, or a promotional "meal deal" at a special price, the menu at Sub Arena continues to consist of 20 some types of sub sandwiches, any one meat-one cheese wrap you can think of, potato salad, at least two of their tranditional homemade soups (vegetable, chili, tortilla, broccoli and cheese or Wisconsin cheese), brownies, peach cobbler, apple crisp and sometimes, if you're very lucky pineapple upside down cake. Everybody Knows Your Name! We know we have a great public relationship when I can tell you what a regular customer is going to order before they order.  It is just good business and if you don't have good people working behind the counter, people won't come back it's that simple....and I've got some very good employees.  Instead of calling out a number we will call out your name. Sub Arena is truly a family business.

Lumsden's children help out at the shop when needed: her husband does the usual honey to do list!
