ABOUT ME

Welcome to Beetle Juice Skull Works.  My name is Randy Sanders. Beetle Juice Skull Works is located in the town of Donnellson, Iowa.  It is in the very Southeast corner of Iowa right in the heart of big buck country.  I have been an avid sportsman all of my life. My passions are fishing and hunting of all kinds of animals.  I also run a long line trapping in the fall of more than 200 traps by myself.  I have been cleaning skulls since 2008.  In 2010, I was asked to do some skulls for a local taxidermist. By 2011, I got the pleasure to take on the work of six local taxidermist. One of those six was the best all-around taxidermist in Iowa in 2014. I have had the pleasure to work with him and learn from him.  His quote that he once said to me as we were in his shop that was in the basement of his house with a dirt floor.  He said “It’s not where you do the work but the quality of work that maters”.  With that, I decided that I could do it. I didn’t need a big shop to get started.  I just need to do the quality of work that I would  if it were my own stuff.  After doing work for the surrounding area for a few years; I was able to build that new shop in the spring of 2014 just for doing beetle work.

Here at Beetle Juice Skull Works we are not a random boiling operation, we use Dermestid Beetles to give you the highest quality European mounts. Dermestid beetles are the most effective way to clean your skulls. Dermestid beetles are able to remove the meat inside and out. Dermestid beetles do no harm to the smallest and paper thin nasal bones. They can eat the meat off a whole deer skull in about 24 hours due to the number of dermestid beetles we have. We give you years of experience, and fast turn-around at affordable prices. We do all kinds of  skulls all year long, from all over the States we only use dermested beetles to clean all skulls.  When “Bleaching” more properly called "Whitening" since no bleach is used.  Here at Beetle Juice Skulls Works we use the best stuff on the market. NOT Chlorine Bleach.  NEVER use chlorine bleach on bones.  Chlorine based bleach permanently damages the bone itself. It will start to break down the structure of the bone and will continue to even after it is rinsed and dried. Resulting in chalky, fragile and extremely porous bone that will turn to bone meal with age. Not to mention it turns the bone yellow. Which pretty much defeats the purpose if you are trying to whiten the bone. It may appear white at first but will turn yellow. Once it yellows from bleach there is nothing you can do about it. Believe me, I've tried to salvage yellow bleached skulls.

I want to thank you for taking time to look at my site to see what I have to offer.
